US Ambassador predicts Ukraine a key role in world agriculture

Ukraine could become a leading player in the world among the agricultural producers, the US Ambassador to Ukraine John Tefft believes. He stated this at a formal meeting with the Donetsk Governor Andrew Shishatskiy, UNIAN reports.

According to Tefft, Ukraine has a huge potential in agriculture, the country is able to produce a lot of agricultural products, both for domestic consumption and export.

It should be noted that according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, Ukrainian farmers can increase export of agricultural products from $18.2 billion last year up to $22 billion this year.

The growth of gross agricultural production is expected at the level of 8% this year, which will help to ensure the export potential of Ukraine and inflow of foreign currency to support the farmers.

The main buyers of Ukrainian agricultural export are the markets of the EU countries as well as promising markets of Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
